3 Day CANBERRA FLORIADE

Day 1 Saturday 25th Sept.

Off to another adventure to discover the beauty of Nature and Gods grace in what we have been given in this world to admire. Our first stop is for morning tea at Corbett Gardens in Bowral, firstly to celibrate there 50th. Anniversary of their ground breaking decision by the Council, the hospital board, and volunteers to put together such a spectacular display. We will also have time for morning tea & the opportunity to taste the cooking that the ladies offer with a cuppa at the CWA hall tea rooms for a set but small cost. Next we travel the hour and a half to the Tulip Gardens at Bungendore just north of Canberra were we will spend some time looking at their beautiful displays as well as taking time to sit down to a delicious sandwich lunch before heading off to Canberra about mid afternoon to be treated to a city sights tour and a visit to Mt. Ainsley which over looks more than 90% of the city of Canberra. At around 5 pm we will then end the day and travel to our accommodation and settle in for the evening meal.

Day 2 Sunday 26th Sept.

What a day is in store for us today a visit to the Floriade site and the beauty that Canberra can lay on in its grandest style, flowers flowers and more flowers plus displays of equipment, gardening ideas, tools, workshops and lots lots more too numerous to print. However be prepared for plenty of walking, as Floriade covers an area of 10 acres all on concrete and granite walkways and for those who find this a little hard there are limited walking aids available for hire to help you out.
Lunch today will be at the Floriade centre itself and at your own cost.
At about 2.00’ clock we will depart and travel to the War Memorial for the afternoon to view the new displays that have been recently opened. And for something special we will stay for the closing ceremony and the Last Post to played for the close of another brilliant day. After dinner we will make a night tour to Telstra Tower for a visit and and a night viewing of Canberra at its best.

Day 3 Monday 27th Sept.

Alas our final day but like always we will find plenty to do, firstly a visit to Parliament House and a self guided tour through the various houses and if we are in luck Parliament may be sitting and we will get a chance to watch our elected parliamentarians at (play) er work.
Lunch today will be at Parliament House cafeteria. If times permits we may be able to get a quick visit to the mint and while there view the various stages of production of our coinage and if you are a collector of coins a chance to purchase some of the special collectors items that are available.
At about mid afternoon we will start making for home so most the travellers will be home before dark.
For those who would prefer a visit to the new National Museum this can be arranged as an alternative. Whatever you decide I am sure that you will enjoy your visit to the Nations Capital.
